Default New form of laming in the new UW

Please be carefull everyone, not that there is alot you can do but be carefull. There are people going to the new underworld area 'freeloading' a ride until the end. I have had this done to me twice. Once (the first time) The player helped for ten minutes before standing there throughout playing the lagger. The second time somone tried it but we died anyway. So it didnt matter.

The first time this happened the player plain ignorant stood there. But the most stupid thing about it was that he wasnt afk because whenever the enemy came too close he ran from danger. I can understand why somone would stand there trying for a free ride - go afk for a couple hours, help on the bosses at the end, get your greens. I can understand this i say, the method behind it. Of course I dont agree with it.

But to blatantly be there all that time and not help at all is even more cheep and actually if he had of helped, it would also have reduced the time spent there.

The saddest thing about this is this is only unsociable behaviour. It isnt actually a violation as in swearing at a player etc, So as I know nothing can be done about it. As it happened the player decided to be smart and give me abuse afterwards so I got him bollocked on that one. I was very happy with the way Anet dealt with this btw, although they cant tell you the action taken. They can tell you when they have taken the action - I was told in email 'within seven days' but they dealt with it in about half an hour. So thank you.

Of course I am aware I will be making people aware of this who would do such things themselves. But they way I see it is, somone else would have noticed and mentioned soon enough all the same. I propose some kind of system should be made so that if Anet are recieving multiple reports of individuals doing this then a ban should be enforced.

I dont know why there isn't some kind of vote system to have people kicked from the group. People join groups for a free ride too often.

Well, when you get a game that goes out of its way to make sure people have to group up to accomplish anything, you are bound to get the flood of morons and lamers. I've been avoiding the HoH like the plague too much stress for me. I'd rather make a bit of gold solo farming lower level areas than deal with PUGs in a high level area for a shot at a green item that's no better than the collector stuff I already have.

well, I actually had a friend who was the ss/sv necro in the old uw, going with a solo monk. An ecto dropped for my friend, and the monk just all of the sudden leads the group to him, and lets him die. the monk simply waited for the ecto to turn free, and stole it. there are a TON of scammers, and thats the reason why I have not done this area with a pug yet. too many factors, too much hard work, and too many idiots out there waiting to ruin the fun.

Yeah. We tried to but he just ran along the wall each time we led monsters to him. Plus each level completed, players get respawned anyway. But yes this is one way that offers some defence if you catch them not keeping an eye out on the last level.

I agree that it would be nice to have a vote system, though it would probably create problems as well. Especially in this new area if people wanted to gang up on others to increase their green drop chances.

yeah just shows what kind of people play gw really.. I mean I had a green time out while making sure our group was safe- only to have a guy run up and grab it and die.. this last time the group got overzealous I guess- everyone died but me and and elem and the greens were all over the floor.. I coulda let them time and took em all.. instead I rezzed everyone only to get beoytched out for it- it's just the way poor people are.. they really have nothing and this is thier chance to get it.. just play cutthroat in there it does'nt matter- have'nt met many decent people in gw pugs.. not to mention you end up carrying most of the newbs who think they can stand under a meteor shower

That is one of the downfalls of this area for sure; the loot is at the end. Players may act nice for the whole trip, but once the good loot comes into question its survival of the fittest.

It's not just nice loot that can bring these kind of players out. I've encountered similar players before, mainly in missions areas - 'Frost Gate', 'Gates of Kryta', 'Divinity Coast' just to name afew.

They always blame lag or say 'brb' and therefore for not being able to join fights, but neither of those stop them from running away from danger or running to pick up their drops. Nice and easy 1000/2000 Xp for them without having to lift a finger to help the team.

The item time out feature needs to be increased to 30 minutes. I've seen this all too often too of people waiting to rez you after your item has timed out.

Yeah I had a thread deleted with pics of a guy who did this same thing. He was a 55 with the name of "sysfailur ftmfw". After we got down there he just tanked and then when the doors open he went smite whoring.

So lame. Watch out for these people

Mod Edit - you know the rules, no names, not even just "partial" names.

Oh well. This farm run can be done even if 1 guy ain't doing anything. You just need the right build.

That's not the point though. It's the fact that it takes a lot of time and effort to get to the end. And why should someone just get a free ride without putting in the same time and effort?

PUGs are unstable for this type of run. Going with a group of Guildmates is your best bet.

I played UW with a full awesome PUG, we all worked and played hard for the 1 hour+ long run and at the end myself and two others didn't even get a green. Thats a rant for another time though, but imagine how disappointed and just totally bitter you would be if this moron who did nothing while you worked your butt off for probably one of the longest runs in the entire game got an awesome green and you got nothing.

In a normal PUG where everyone is doing their job it is hard to say who is more deserving to get a good drop and who isn't. This guy and people like him it's easy though...yet they still are the ones who get the drops, when someone who played the whole run, probably missed out.

i do pugs into uw and fow but if i start the group i make sure to have at least 2 guildies with us one being a monk so if we see ppl trying to leach just to get drops or something like that myself(i'm a warrior)and my other guild mates that are with me(usually on vent) will just say sorry to everyone else and let them know that we are leaving the group and let them know why, if there are some good ppl in the group and its just one guy messing it up we will tell the others to meet back in whatever dis. and offer to pay to go back in and just reform the group without the a**hat

A similar thing happened to me last night. A guildmate needed to do the RoF mission so we got 5 guild members together to do it.
Not wanting to deal with henchmen, we picked up another 3 strangers.

Well, guess what? All 3 of them were there for capping only. As soon as the Elementalist and Necromancer got thier caps - they dropped out.

The last PUG guy, wanted a cap that we hadn't encountered yet. &%$* that. We just went on to beat the mission and said to hell with him.

Finished the mission, if you go for a frontal assault it's really easy and not much to worry about.

I wish parent's would stop buying MMORPG's (or *ORPG in GW case) for thier 8 year old kids.
